Inaugurated in November 2017, Lehmann Gallery is dedicated to promoting Portuguese contemporary art in the international art scene, while also representing and showcasing international artists both in Portugal and abroad. With a diverse range of artists, from emerging talents to established names, the gallery is distinguished by the strong and lasting relationships it cultivates with both artists and the broader community.
Situated in the historic Bonfim neighbourhood of Porto, just 200 metres from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto, the gallery is surrounded by artist studios and art students, thus embedding itself in a flourishing artistic environment.
The gallery space is spread across two levels: the main exhibition area and the project space. Both Portuguese and international curators are regularly invited to develop research-driven and curatorial projects for the exhibition space. The project space is designed to encourage artistic exchange, experimentation, and dialogue, bringing these processes to the forefront. Emerging artists and curators are given the opportunity to develop their work within a professional gallery setting, with access to the tools and support necessary to thrive. This initiative aims to create a platform for reflection and theoretical debate within the gallery.
